Robbinsville Changes Recycling Collection Dates and Pickup

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

Beginning October 1, 2008, Robbinsville is changing the way it collects recyclable materials. Collections will be done as a “single stream”, meaning that all materials including glass, plastics, metal, paper and cardboard will be loaded into one truck and can therefore be mixed in the same buckets. You can still use your yellow and green buckets and you no longer have to separate items. This new method will allow the township to save over 40% over the previous collection method.

The township is also changing the dates of recycling collection. Residents west of route 130 will have their recyclables collected every other Wednesday, beginning October 8th and every other week following that (October 22nd, November 5th., etc.). Residents on the East side of route 130 will continue to have the same collection schedule they always have.

Hotel Coming to Robbinsville?

Friday, September 5th, 2008

The town council zoning board approved a preliminary site plan for a 136-room Staybridge Suites Hotel on Robbinsville-Allentown Road at West Manor Way.

“The four-story 19,600-square-foot hotel and a 6,375-square-foot restaurant would be constructed on a 4.92-acre site, according to the general land use application.” Township engineer Jack West said construction could begin in the spring of 2009 pending final approval from the township, Mercer County Planning Board and the Mercer County Soil Conservation District. West said the applicant, Washington Lodging LLC, was originally going to purchase a 7-acre portion of a 24-acre lot, but the New Jersey Turnpike Authority purchased the majority of that land for its Turnpike-widening project, scheduled to begin in 2009. In October another hotel application is slated to come before the zoning board which would sit opposite the proposed Staybridge Suites Hotel.
