Dave Fried has served as an elected official in Township of Robbinsville since 2000, when he was appointed to fill an unexpired term on the Township Committee under the old form of government. He served as mayor for two one-year terms. After the voters of Township of Robbinsville opted to change their form of government in November 2004, Mr. Fried became the first mayor directly elected by the voters. He was elected May 10, 2005, and sworn in to a four-term on July 1, 2005. Mayor Fried is also the head of Public Safety.
In 2001, Mr. Fried founded TriCore, first known as Adminasource, with the goal of becoming the leading human resource outsourcing company in the Northeast. Previously, he was the founder/owner of Human Resource Alternatives, Inc. HRA ranked 20th on the Inc. 500 list in 1998 as one of the fastest-growing companies in the country. In November 1998, Fidelity Investments and HR Logic (HRL) purchased HRA.

In the new Mayor-Council form of government, the Mayor and Council function as independent branches of government. The Mayor is the Chief Executive of the Township and heads its Administration. The Mayor is elected in a non-partisan election and serves for a four-year term. The Mayor may attend Council meetings but is not obliged to do so.
The Council is the legislative branch. The five members of the Township Council are elected on a non-partisan basis for four-year, staggered terms.
At the annual organizational meeting held during the first week of July of each year, the Council elects a President and Vice President to serve for one-year terms. The Council President chairs the meetings of the governing body.
