2008 Summer Camp Program

Welcome to another year of Summer Rec Camp! Campers have a blast with a variety of fun and educational camp activities and experience a memorable summer right here in Robbinsville. Our experienced and trained staff plans an array of indoor and outdoor age-appropriate activities in a friendly and safe atmosphere for all of our campers. Camp activities include: recreational sports & games, arts & crafts, two days of swimming per week at the Peddie School, fun field trips, special guest entertainers and workshops, and much more!

Grades 1–5 (in Fall 2008)

Sports Camp

Our popular sports camp is back! Campers, grouped according to grade, will learn and experience an assortment of sports and recreational activities in a fun environment. Camp will emphasize sportsmanship, teamwork and the importance of physical fitness. Each day we’ll focus on learning the rules and etiquette of each sport, develop the proper skills, and participate in games. Campers will also enjoy recreational swimming 2 days a week at the Peddie School and a weekly highlight trip to some exciting places. Trip destinations include: Tour of Citizens Bank Park (Phillies), Rockville Climbing Center, Combat Sports Outdoor Laser Tag, Crystal Springs Water Park, and the Funplex Amusement Center. At Sports Camp, everyone is a winner!

RadKIDS

Through radKIDS training, children become empowered, learning to replace the fear, confusion, and panic of dangerous situations with confidence, personal safety skills and self-esteem. Since its inception in 1998, radKIDS, Inc. has been committed to providing education that enhances the ability of children and parents to utilize knowledge, skills, and power to protect themselves from violence and harm. radKIDS strengthens family, encourages physical fitness, and teaches core safety values to live by through its program. radKIDS curriculum topics include: Home, School and Vehicle Safety; Out and About Safety; Realistic Defense Against Abduction; Good-Bad-Uncomfortable Touch; Stranger Tricks (including Physical Defense against Abduction); Self-realization of personal power.

Tennis Lessons

Pee wee lessons will introduce children to tennis related skills such as eye hand coordination, tracking, and balance. Emphasis will be on fun and success.

Beginner lessons are for those with limited tennis experience. Class will provide a good foundation while emphasizing proper stroke mechanics and basic footwork. Again, "FUN" is the magic word.

Advanced Beginners lessons are for students who have mastered the beginner level class. Emphasis on rallying, and serving from the baseline. Learning to play "real" tennis. Goal is to start playing on a consistent basis.

Intermediate lessons are for those who have mastered Adv Beg. lessons and have excellent knowledge of the game. Emphasis on footwork, strategy, consistency and full-court match play.

Babysitting Training Course

Interested in being a babysitter? This American Red Cross training program is designed to give the babysitter the knowledge, skills, and confidence to care for infants and school-age children. Class size is limited to 12 students.

Movie Making

Students will discover the exciting world of movie making in which they will produce a movie from pre-production to post-production. Students will develop characters and story ideas, create a storyboard, build the scene, write the script and dialogue and film their own movie. The class will culminate in a screening of all films produced in the session, complete with popcorn! All students will take home a DVD with their creation.

Fencing

Beginner Sabre is an introduction class that will focus on fundamental techniques of fencing including basic footwork, simple attacks, parries, ripostes and fencing rules. This class will be fun, educational and physically challenging. No previous fencing experience necessary.

Ages 10-18 $65 ($75 non-residents)

Pond Road Middle School

Instructor: John Friedberg, 30+ years of fencing experience

Intermediate Sabre class will review basic fencing hand and footwork fundamentals, basic offense and defensive drills, and tactics and strategy. Students will also learn the fundamentals of engaging in and officiating fencing bouts. This class will be fun, educational and physically challenging. Previous sabre fencing experience is required.

Ages 10-18 $65 ($75 non-residents)

Healthy Girls Fitness

Empower yourself with this fun and motivating exercise class. Participants will learn the basics of a healthy lifestyle and enjoy a full hour of exercise with great music. We will focus on aerobic activity as well as strength and resistance exercises using a wide variety of equipment; each class will offer something different and exciting. This class emphasizes positive steps to a healthy lifestyle and to accept and feel good about yourself.

Boys Boot Camp

This class offers students the opportunity to stay fit and be active in a non-competitive and fun atmosphere. Participants will learn the fundamentals of physical fitness and good nutrition. The class will focus on: enhancing physical appearance and attitude, increasing physical capacity, decreasing risk of injury and improving posture and balance.

Skateboard Lessons

Beginners will learn skateboard safety, mechanics and basic riding skills such as balance, control, turning, riding transitions, and "ollieing."

Intermediate class will help fine-tune your skills with lessons on ollies, grinds, airs, etc. As the lessons progress, instruction will be customized to match the varying talents of the skaters.

Golf Lessons

This three–week program, 6 classes, will focus on the fundamentals of the game including: proper swing, putting, chipping, sand play, and rules. All skill levels are encouraged to participate. Equipment can be provided by Miry Run Country Club, if needed. Must wear sneakers or golf shoes.

Football Camp

This camp emphasizes the basic fundamentals and techniques used to play the game. All positions, both offensive and defensive, will be taught to all players. A live touch game will highlight the end of each day. Participants must wear proper football shoes. Campers will be grouped according to grade and/or skill level. Each camper receives a camp t-shirt.

This camp is designed to teach the fundamentals of the game and will feature individual and team instruction, offensive and defensive drills, games, and contests. Campers will be grouped according to age and skill level. Emphasis is on fun and learning. Full-day campers must bring a bag lunch. Each camper receives a camp t-shirt.

Summer Basketball Leagues

Our summer leagues are a great opportunity to fine-tune your game in a fun and relaxed environment. Each player will be assigned to a team after a player evaluation session. Games are held at the Municipal Complex outdoor courts. The deadline to register is June 3rd.
